i seriously have nothing to say. which makes all of you verrrrry eager to read on, i'm sure.
carson & layla have been playing legos together all afternoon. carson just came and informed me that "it's night-time for the legos, which means it's bathroom break for us." i think the whole "toy story" idea of toys coming to life when the kid isn't around is sinking in deep around here. very deep.
the two older kids spent the night in a tent in the backyard the other night. stayed up way too late and woke up way too early and layla came in to sleep in her own bed in the middle of the night. despite having a very tired day the next day, they want to do it some more? i dunno if i'm on board.
addie is stringing bunches of "words" (sorry on the overuse of quotation marks, but it must be done here. really) together to make sentences. most of which are demands, and very few include manners words. when someone does something nice, i'll prompt her with a "wow, addie! what do you say?" and she'll obediently and passionately respond, "peeeeeease!" though ill-timed, it IS a manners word, and i have to laugh.
paul and i have started an exercise regimen together. i think our bodies are too old for such nonsense, and some hours will find me sitting in a drooling nostalgic state, recalling the days of sweets - not sweat - ushering in bedtime. we're both trying to be healthier, although with opposite end goals in mind: him to gain weight, and me to lose it. surely there's a technological procedure for such things, right? i mean, i could give someone a kidney, why can't i donate a few pounds to a willing recipient?
carson got a sweet summertime buzz last night. i can't be near him without rubbing his head. without fail. although i'm sure it's obnoxious, he's a good sport and still laughs as he swats my hand away. for the billionth time.
in a fit of belated spring-cleaning frenzy, the kids and i organized and rearranged their rooms earlier this week. they've been very excited and motivated to keep them clean. we're already on day 3 of this success story. i'm not holding my breath for day 4, but you never know.
i'm still obsessed with my pedometer. my goal is 10,000 steps a day, but my REAL goal is 12,500+. i'm there on average, but that's only thanks to padding the stats with a few weekend long runs. realistically, i'm around 11,500. it's a fun, albeit lame, little "game" i get to play every day.
the kids wanted me to play "do as i'm doing" on the piano this morning while they all took turns being the leader. it was very cute and we were all giggling. addie's reign of power went to her head, though, and she spent the morning afterward commanding us to "do i'm do-een, fow fow meeee."
paul likes his non-commuting job. three, no, 18 cheers for local employment.
during last weekend's softball tourney, paul messed up both of his knees sliding into 1st (and was called out anyway, a call i had to respectfully dispute). having learned the hard way from the Scooter Incident of 2009 that messed up my ankle/foot/leg due to infection due to postponed and insuficient cleaning and wound care (due to my previously firm belief in my body's ability to pretty much take care of itself), paul has been ever vigilant to nurse his knees back to health. they're looking better every day, although they were pretty painful for a while. the knees are a terribly inconvenient place to be wounded. the man's a champ, though.
i think we're racking up late fees at the city library because we spend 3 days a week at the elementary school library. oops. such is summertime, right?

Yes, I'm all too familiar with the Library Fees. :) But I definitely think it's a part of summer time.
For not having anything to say, you had me very engaged in what you were saying. Seriously.
You are my hero. I don't know how you make 11,500+ steps a day. My feet hurt just thinking about it.
