isn't he supposed to "grow a foot or two" first?

today, the kids and i spent a wonderfully leisurely couple of hours at shady, slow-your-life-down mack park in smithfield. a lady was there with her 18-month-old girl, and she stopped and chatted with us while my kids fed her daughter pretzels. (it turns out, she owns an upholstery shop, and she was impressed that i had recently attempted a wingback chair reupholstery. yesssss....)

the woman was sincerely friendly and interesting, and we enjoyed our conversation. in her short denim skirt and sleeveless top, i knew she wasn't the garment-wearing type. no biggie.

at a brief pause in the conversation, carson stood up and looked her right in the eye and asked, "do you know about Jesus?"

it caught the woman off-guard a little bit, but she smiled. "do i know about Jesus? yep. how do YOU know about Jesus?"

carson: "i know about the stories."

woman: "there are lots of stories we can read about, aren't there. do you have a favorite Jesus story?"

carson: "nope. no. uh-uh. i think i like them all."

woman: [smiling] "okay."

i think one of the things i love most about carson is his heart. the kid is pure gold and, for the most part, wants everyone around him to be happy. (his sisters are occasionally excluded from this claim, but i'm talking in general here, people.) and, to be happy, he realizes people need to know about Jesus.

from the mouths of babes.

Katrina and I were discussing the other day which sounds better, Elder Carson P. Smart, or Elder C.Paul Smart. He is so great!
