Lincoln City, Oregon vacation, day 4

Wednesday was Oregon Coast Aquarium day. Doing some hair (probably for the first time this trip).

Since it was about 11 by the time we got to Newport, we ate a quick lunch in the parking lot of the aquarium. Classy-like.

These blondies don't look related, do they?

Violet loved, slash, hated being this up-close-and-personal with the seals/sea lions. I love how she's clutching Addie's sweatshirt for moral support.

The shark tunnel is always a favorite. This time, we got to see two scuba divers checking the seams around the tank. Can you imagine scuba-ing with a zillion sharks around as your day job? Hello.

Actually, I maybe lied. When asked at the end of the trip what part was their favorite, several of the kids said it was the playground, complete with concrete and bronze animals to play on. Go figure.

Whatever you do, don't forget cheese hand, Carson.

Uncle Jordan paid $2 for the hurricane machine. Carson's response: "What a waste of two whole dollars! It was nothing but loud and windy!"

Back at our beach, we hit the waves. Addie struck this yoga-ish pose before jumping each wave...?

Violet loved, I repeat LOVED, the waves.

Too bad the water was so cold we'd have to tear her away every few minutes to dry off and warm up her toes so they didn't fall off from frostbite. Then she was right back at it.

Layla had a great time out there with her cousins, too. (I should interject here that we took a ton of photos of everyone, but I'm mostly posting my own family's pics here. If you want the full 841-pic recap, come on over, and we'll pop some corn and watch.)

Carson getting some air.

Shay & Michelle bought a skimboard, and we all loved trying that out. Shay was awesome at it (until he re-dislocated his shoulder, which was a way bad thing to happen). Paul and I did our best... he did pretty well. It's definitely harder than it looks.

My attempts were, shall we say, entertaining for the masses. I got a little instruction from Michelle & Shay before I started.

And then...

Paul: "Look, Violet, that's your mom wiping out on the skimboard."
Violet: {look of disgust}

Warm up with a towel, for sure.

After our dinner of spaghetti, homemade breadsticks, and Caesar's salad, we were outside again to enjoy the sun and sand. Bocci ball was a daily hit.

The kids liked building or digging or playing whatever in the sand. Our beach really was awesome.

With Violet safely tucked in for the night inside, I liked watching it all go down outside.

Paul and I took a romantic stroll up the beach and watched the tide come in a little. Freezing toes!

A beautiful way to end the day.

Grownups played games each night after kids' bedtimes. Including Mafia (where Tonya, as narrator, accidentally killed off random people and left behind a very confused Larry Mafia, much to our late-night hilarity) and a fun group "smurf" game.

End of Day 4. Serious photo overload. And this is the ultra-edited version, people.

I seriously want to be a part of your family. And play mafia.
