"that's like a dollar an hour!"

you know when napoleon dynamite works at that nasty chicken place and gets paid, like, $6 for the day? i empathize.

the garage sale was fun. my friends and i were able to just sit and chat and enjoy the beautiful morning while people found and bartered for treasures. we even slashed prices drastically near the end to clear out more stuff (even though there was still a TON of stuff left over to haul to D.I. seriously, we had a lot of stuff there).

but, compared to the hours i had put into sorting/packing/hauling/pricing/arranging the, um, "merchandise," i really did probably end up with a dollar-an-hour compensation rate. but our house has less extra and unnecessary stuff in it now, and if i play my cards and quarters right, i'll be able to find my kids some new dressers with the proceeds.

maybe i'll find a sweet deal at some other garage sale...

I believe the real purpose for a garage sale is to get your mind un-attached to unneccassary items within the home. We had ours a few weeks ago & I found myself getting rid of stuff simply because I might get cash for it. I also thought to myself that if it didn't sell I'd bring it back inside. When many items didn't sell, I was too lazy to bring them back in & now my house is nearly clutter free...nearly, I emphasize.

Oh, I love garage sales. The last one I had with a neighbor resulted in a "swap" of some of our junk. Not sure it served the correct purpose but I did get "new" curtains out of the whole thing :)

way to get rid of stuff. after 3 moves in 3 years, i'm ready to throw half of my stuff away. only reason i haven't done it yet is because it requires way too much decision making. that and, yes, someday i will fit into all my old clothes again. riiigghhhttt....
