layla has decided, for whatever reason, that i make the BEST mac'n'cheese in the world. she's bragging about it to everyone. when her little friends come over, she begs for mac'n'cheese for lunch. then she'll take a bite, oooh and aaaah over it, and ask her friend,
"does YOUR mom's mac'n'cheese taste this good?"
friend: "um...nope?"
layla: "wanna know why not? becauses MY mom puts CHEESE in our mac'n'cheese. and she puts milk. and...what else do you put in it, momma?"
me: "i just put in what is says on the box."
layla: "but WHAT does it say on the box?"
me: "milk, butter, and cheese."
layla: (to her friend, a wee bit smugly) "yeah, she does milk AND butter AND cheese."
layla takes another bite, closes her eyes, and savors the gourmet-ness of it all.
i'm going to be honest with you all. it's getting hard not to let this kind of flattery go to my head.

Wish I made it that good. Ellie doesn't really like mac n cheese anymore. Maybe she needs to try yours.
Try a half tsp of onion powder . . . it'll rock your world! Of course, it might not rock Layla's. Connor will not eat it any other way. Gram let me in on that little secret. Delish!
I'd like to challenge you to a mac-n-cheese cook off.
Maybe I should try your special mac-n-cheese, I might like it for once. What a sweet little girl to appreciate your gourmet efforts to impress her and her friends. :)
i love the way you write :)let it go to your head--and soak it up.
Wait ... so you put CHEESE in it?! What's with this following the box thing? I guess if you want to be unfair, then I'll start following recipes on more than just mac-n-cheese!
