Forgive the mixed metaphor (if that's what you would call it), but I am a self-proclaimed Halloween Grinch. I spend about 2 seconds on costumes and festive activities for the kids because I've found that they really don't care all that much. It's all about the candy. Which, really, who can blame them?
Regardless, here are the little munchkins. The girls are princesses (changed last minute -- Addie was going to be a bat, and Layla was going to be a witch...they ended up raiding the dressups. Sweet.), and I happen to think they looked adorable. Carson also changed costumes last-minute, from a knight to Batman (an obvious leap, right? Right.). By the end of Halloween night, he had taken off his mask and his cape was pretty much invisible...he looked like a, well, kid. And the girls were cloaked in their coats, costumes totally hidden. But they got the goods, and that's what matters.
And, on a completely unrelated note, tonight's new recipe called for "two large carrots." All I could find were these runts (below). Guess we're going hungry tonight.

oh thank goodness! I was feeling bad my kids (I mean, I) didn't carve pumpkins and clean up the mess for days. Jeff caved and bought Lucas a costume - I guess being a princess was not an option. :) And I'm glad you didn't starve - did you grow those carrots?!
oh my, those carrots are ridiculously large. are they from your garden?
