Ode to My Three-Year-Old Who Dresses Himself with a Disturbing Amount of Confidence

A new day has come
And this new day is fine.
You want to look fab
Playing in the sunshine.

Throw open your closet,
Pick a shirt out with care.
Hawaiian print? Awesome.
That's the first thing you'll wear.

You don't want to look sloppy,
Need to dress it up right.
Ah, perfect: Easter's sweater,
Best of all, it's a bit tight.

No need to be stuffy--
Let 'em know you're alive.
B-ball shorts, nothin' better
To send out the "I'm hip" vibe.

Don't forget some brown church socks
'Neath those sweet light-up pumps.
"C'mon, mom, let's get started--
Watch me do some triple-jumps!"

Who cares if it matches,
No matter the hue,
Because you know, inside,
"I look good, yes I do!"

What. You are the CUTEST and best mom to have written a poem about Carson's new and developing fashion sense. I truly love it when I see children who have clearly dressed themselves! It's the best! Keep rockin, Carson!

Great poem! That is so funny that he dresses himself. My 3 year old COMPLETELY leaves his wardrobe up to me, so I have my boys matching most of the time. I am TRULY impressed with Carson's fashion sense, and independence to dress himself. What a stud!

Yes, this is the one thing I decided to allow...kids dressing themselves .... I'm picking my battles.

I do though however insist on appropriate season attire. No long sleeve shirts with pants in 110 degree weather. That is health issue, right?

Too bad we don't live closer because Natalie got a haircut today as well and with your two kids they could set some serious trends! Simply hilarious, and clever, and winsome, and heart-warming and...Brittney, I'm so glad you have a blog.
