- in watching male figure skating in the olympics, layla allsofasudden burst out laughing at one of the guy's dancing. because it was so wrong. even at that age, she could sense it. you all know what i'm talking about.
- in getting ready for school yesterday, carson wet his hair down and had a look of utmost concentration on his face as he combed his hair forward (his hair is fairly long lately, so it was almost to his eyebrows). as i walked by the bathroom, he called out, "i'm just doing my hair like dad. mom, does this look like how dad does it?" i had to bite the insides of my cheeks to keep from smiling, because he was so serious. i somberly studied his look and responded. he then proceeded to add a few perpendicular combings and some minor flourishes before nodding at himself in the mirror. "i look JUST like dad now, right, mom?" absolutely, my handsome boy. absolutely.
- in preparing for a few quiet reading moments, which she loves, addie will bring to a designated reading spot her favorite blanket, her sippy of milk, her baby (usually), and the necessary reading material. it shows quite a bit of forethought, actually, to make all the necessary arrangements BEFORE climbing up to read. she's a character, always pulling these funny faces or little attitudes or making grandiose arm and squat motions as she practices "jumping" (never leaving the ground, of course). oh, this age is honestly so fun. we are loving this little monkey...few people get to see addie in her totally comfortable prime, which is unfortunate for everyone else. because she's hilarious.
if i weren't so lazy, i'd hook up my ever-increasingly-memory-laden camera and down/upload some pics. one of these days. one of these days.

What a fun time of life you are living in. You have darling kidlets.
oh so awesome. All of it.
But I must say. This?
i had to bite the insides of my cheeks to keep from smiling, because he was so serious.
yeah. I am NEVER able to do that.
p.s. I was eating when I read your comment on my blog. Bad idea. I had to wipe off granola bar bits off of my keyboard.
p.p.s.
clarification: Because I burst out laughing. Not because I threw up or something.
That is funny Layla said that about the skating. I feel the same way. Kaylynn asked Matt if he wanted to wear one of the outfits. Wow I just can't even imagine that. No man looks good in those tight pants.
nan -- they're pretty great. we're trying to have fun and make memories. it kinda puts the pressure on once you realize your kids actually remember stuff from day to day and year to year. :)
katie -- stop. STOP. i was laughing so hard at each comment, but espesh the fact that you had to clarify that you didn't hurl all over your computer. oh my. still giggling.
lisa -- yeah, layla was totally like, "he looks...silly." paul was proud of her. seriously.
