I LOOOOVE it!! I have and old wingback chair that I want to do the same thing too. Right now it's a lovely 90's mauve. I was thinking of trying to make a fitted slipcover for it but this looks fabulous. Love the fabric!
Nan: I just googled "how to reupholster a wingback chair" or something and checked out a couple of tutorials. I think I ended up mostly using the one from a site called "mormonchic.com" or something like that.
Annie: I toyed with the idea of a slipcover, too, but I'm afraid of sewing zippers! And for a wingback, I was figuring I'd have to do, like, 14 zippers to get it to hang right. Plus, frankly, a staple gun is insanely fun to use. Really. I'd recommend it. :)
Way to go Britt. Isn't it satisfying to see a project through to the end. I have been working (I use the word loosely) on two chairs for about, well, since before Christmas. Your finished product may just be the inspiration I need to bust the stapler back out.
Do you have a staple gun? I have been using a hand stapler and it is oh-so-slow. I have toyed with the idea of getting a gun but haven't committed yet. and the upholstery guns can be expensive.
Kaity: Yes, I have a staple gun. I actually got Paul an air compressor for Christmas last year, and it came with a staple gun (heh...an indirect gift for myself? brilliant). The only way to fly, seriously. Makes it way easier.
Lisa: The cording is the worst part, right? So hard to make it look good (I never quite got it right, but the second side of the chair is much improved over the first side I did).
Jana: I found the fabric online. I got a little obsessed in the looking, though--soooo fun. Now I have a million projects in my head.
Katie: Uh, truly, if you saw the chair up close & personal, you would find many things that make it, ah, unique. :)
Kathy: I know, right? I just love the fabric. So cheery and fun. A little bold, but I loved it enough that I didn't care. Thanks!
