4 going on 40...

yesterday, carson had fashioned a make-shift "leash" out of plastic baby ring-link things, and he'd hooked up a stuffed pig to the end of it. standing by the back door, he paused, turned, and told me, "mom, i'm going outside to take knuckles [the stuffed pig] for a walk. take care of layla and addie for me, okay? okay, mom? i'll be back in not too long."

well well well, aren't you the model of responsibility. i only hope that that maturity extends into preschool...it's his first day today, and the boy couldn't have been more excited if it were christmas. wait, seriously, do i really mean that?...*pausing to consider*...yes, yes i do.

it's strange to see our kids growing up in so many ways...yet being very little children still. strange and also terribly exciting. and nerve-wracking. i can't quite describe it, but i'm sure all you parental-types out there know what i'm talking about. probably moreso, because i don't even have anything close to a teenager yet.

anyways. the end.

ok. first, i would completely agree with everything you said about our little ones who are no longer little but off and growing up without us. i sent cole to preschool today for the first day. ah. when the director of the school asked if there were any tears down in the classroom, after we had dropped kids off, we said no, but i thought to myself "just from the moms" :) .... crazy crazy.

secondly - i don't visit your blog for a while and what happens? you have a baby! (holy cow, could i be more slow on the blog checking or what?! :) i'm just glad she isn't 10 by now at the rate i'm going!) ... she's BEAUTIFUL! i had to go back and read and catch up and enjoy all the amazing pictures. there's nothing quite like a new little person. :) congrats to you both!! :)

it sounds like carson was a little nervous to leave you alone with the girls... guess the kid needed to get out and have some 'me' time without the kids :)

The picture of your kiddos is SO cute! Love love love it. HOpe was right there with Carson on the preschool thing. In fact today is her second day and she woke up at 6:15 am to see if it was time for preschool yet. (Keep in mind it doesn't start till 1pm. Ya, it's gonna be a LONG day.)
