Christmastime recap

Forgive the geriatric-esque ramblings, but...seriously? It's over? Already? It seems like just yesterday, after I'd been hiking through waist-deep snow...uphill...both ways... that we sent Paul out to chop down our Christmas tree. And now it's time (three days past time, actually, but I'm a little slow this year) to take it all down.

We did get to go to the Pickleville Christmas play for FHE before Christmas. And it was hilarious--all the kids loved it, even Addie. Highly recommend it; we'll be making it an annual tradition.

Christmas Eve tradition -- wonderful day at the Logan Canyon cabin. Kids went sledding (with cousins...since Paul sprained his ankle that morning playing football), built legos, and decorated gingerbread (aka, graham cracker) houses with note-worthy PERFECT frosting. Best year ever for the icing, if you ask me.

Carson designed & built his own house, with two Santas coming/going down the chimney. Layla carefully decorated hers, then promptly, before the icing dared to harden, began eating it. And Addie added cheese to hers. (Eww. Cheese? Really? Yes.) Cheese and about a bajillion of those pink and white-covered licorice bits (their name escapes me). And she ate about 5 pounds of candy in the house-decorating process. Like any good 2-year-old should.

Kids went to bed at about 7:30 that night. Maybe sooner. And they didn't even get up once, except at about 8:30 Carson got up to tell us to go to bed so Santa could come. Oooh, and at 3 a.m., I guess Layla got up to use the bathroom and came and told Paul that Santa had come... in dreamy-la-la-land myself, I missed the whole conversation. Oops. Woke up at about 7:30 on Christmas Day. I could get used to that kind of schedule.

A perfectly lazy Christmas Day. We hung out in pjs, ate junk, played with presents, watched movies, took naps, and tortured Charlie by forcing him to stay out of the living room.

How did one family get so blessed? I'm very humbled. It was a glorious time and a wonderful year. Merry (belated) Christmas, everybody.

Looks like a fun Christmas! Your kids are so cute and always smiling.
I love your lamp shades you made. Is your wall gray? I painted my bedroom gray and it looked blue so I repainted it.
Happy New Year!
