We went to Bear Lake for the afternoon of the 4th of July. The girls loved the inner tubes, bobbing on the water just a few feet away from shoreline. Which, by the way, is WAY HIGH compared to a couple years ago. Which means there are snakes around. I know this first-hand because we all saw one swimming in the water.
(But I didn't scream, much to Paul's surprise, because Carson's been a little gun-shy about snakes since his encounter with one on the Wind Caves hike, and I wanted to set a good example. Awww, look at me, being so mature and brave. I know. It is impressive.)
Carson tried his hand at fishing, which is both cute and terrifying when you realize how close that flying hook is coming to people's heads. Yipes. I'll watch you from over here, buddy...
The kids loved the canoe as well. Basically anything that floats, they're golden.
Addie & Layla took turns capturing the afternoon on camera. See below for evidence of their lovely photog skillz...and our lovely photog'd faces. (For the record, I think Joyce wins in the top-right shot. Makes me laugh every time.)
And below is a little photo I like to call: "A Dad And His Kids In A Canoe...and a Mom Watching From the Shore Hoping that Next Time They'll Evenly Distribute the Weight."
The four dudes in that canoe right there are the loves of my life.
Happy Fourth of July, everyone. God bless America.

Awesome times with the Smarts. Your kids are adorable, Brittney. How I wish we saw you more than once in a blue moon at the park for 15 minutes. xxoo
