Lincoln City, Oregon vacation, day 5

On Thursday (none of us could believe it was Thursday already. Already?!?!?! That's how vacations go, isn't it.), Paul and Jordan decided they each needed to own a two-stringed kite. (Yes, needed.) So on this day, once said kites were purchased, we spent the day on our own beach in total enjoyment.

Kids were transfixed, watching the stunt kites, for a while. Then they got bored and moved on to other fun things. Like sand.

Grownups? Not bored at all. Everyone gave it a whirl, and a bunch of them got pretty good.

Paul doing some fancy loop-de-loop stunts.

Awww. Jordan's and Paul's kites are fwiends. Jordan's (the blue and purple one) was a little smaller and zippier than Paul's and required more control. Paul's was larger and had more drag and, therefore, required more strength and stamina. Both very fun to fly.

I was no good at it, but I'd have a go every so often.

And, while I was flying the kites, it was a familiar sight to see someone, usually Shay, launching it after I crashed it. Heh.

Once Paul got the hang of flying the kite, he helped any kids who wanted to try it. All the older kids did it.

Carson especially loved flying the kite. He also loved launching it, although at first it was a little terrifying for me to watch my son put himself in mortal danger because, since no one really knew what s/he was doing in flying it, there was a very real possibility that the kite would immediately nose-dive onto the launcher-person unless they sprinted back to safety.

Aww. Little Lincoln.

The day ended with this photo, taken by Paul, of Larry and John sunbathing on a wind-free section of the deck. Haha.

Dinner was scrumptious Shay & Michelle's chicken baked taquitos.

End of Day 5...but not the end of the kites. Never fear.
